Brief History of the Congress

In 2009, discussions were held in Melbourne by the APS Interest Group in Coaching Psychology and the BPS Special Group in Coaching Psychology representatives (Stephen Palmer and Peter Zarris) on how to set up an international coaching psychology congress which could involve coaching psychology interest groups from many countries. They concluded that to have an on-going international event sponsored by regional professional membership psychology or coaching psychology bodies during 2010 to 2011 would help to involve the global coaching psychology community in a shared experience.

Events were held in England, South Africa, Ireland, Sweden and Spain. Congresses have continued to be held around the globe since 2011 and have included Italy, Israel and Scotland. In 2015 an international congress was held in San Diego, USA and in London, UK in 2016. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 congresses were held in Aalborg, Denmark and London, UK.

During 2020, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the only ICCP event was hosted virtually by the ISCP. This was a 13 hour international event that included speakers from around the world.

In 2023 the title in each region will be: 13th International Congress of Coaching Psychology, 2023.

The website is sponsored and maintained by the International Society for Coaching Psychology on behalf of the professional psychology bodies who are members of the ICCP international steering group.
